Practice the words that need your attention

New words and mistake words return more often

ZiMatch remembers which words you have practiced. New words are featured regularly so your vocabulary keeps expanding, while words you miss become more likely to appear in later rounds. Words you answer correctly remain available, but the words that need more work receive more attention.

The result is varied practice instead of a fixed review queue: you continue moving through the HSK curriculum without losing sight of difficult words.

Two ways to strengthen recognition

Word Matching

Connect English meanings and Hanzi while missed words return more often.

Word Pillar

Translate one word at a time by choosing from five answers.

Both games use the same learning record. A word missed in one game can receive more practice in the other, so switching games does not mean starting over.

Practice your way

English or Chinese prompts

Practice English to Hanzi or Hanzi to English depending on the skill you want to strengthen.

Timed or untimed

Choose a quick challenge or remove the clock and focus entirely on recognition.

10 to 100 words

Use a short set when time is limited or a larger set for a longer study session.

Pinyin when you want it

Show pinyin as a learning aid or hide it when you are ready to rely on character recognition.

Progress without a required account

Anonymous progress is saved in your browser by default. That includes your unlocked curriculum, practice results, settings, round history, and streak. If you want the same progress on another device, optional email sign-in securely synchronizes the learning record through Supabase.

A completed round counts as one streak day in your local timezone. Completing more rounds on the same day adds practice without artificially increasing the day count.

An HSK-based path

The Word Library follows supplied New HSK Level 1–5 vocabulary lists, moving from 300 Level 1 words through a total of 3,600 words. You can unlock the curriculum in groups of 50 and browse every word currently available to you.

ZiMatch is an independent study tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the HSK administrators.
